If the Knights said "we'll give you Ponga for Kennedy and it won't cost you any extra" I wouldn't do it.
That's a tough one. I probably would. I think he could star in a good structure and system. I think we can offer that.

Ponga has the ability to near singlehandedly beat teams which Kennedy has not shown yet.

Our game vs Knights last year Ponga was being targeted and throwing up and beat us basically on his own.

Ponga has a much higher ceiling than Kennedy but is weighed down by expectation and pressure.
Maybe you wouldn't swap Kennedy for Ponga but Kennedy in that current Knights team as captain wouldn't be doing so great either I expect.

Ponga would have so much opportunity in our team. He'd also he'll take a lot of pressure of Nicho with his experience. Ponga in for Moylan? Everyone's happy!

He does, just rarely does it.

Forget about this year, he's been at the Knights for 5 years now. Remember they made the finals the past two years with Pearce in the team and a very good pack. Ponga was still very inconsistent.

Kennedy is the complete opposite, he's at a point now where he very consistent.

Nup, I wouldn't swap him for Ponga.

Agree
No thanks to that offer
Thankfully we will never see it anyway but I think we are in with a winner with WK

I agree with you overall but what Ponga is right now is not what he always has to be.

Kennedy got consistent only last year and is a year older than Ponga.

Ponga debuted in 2016 and Kennedy couldn't crack NRL until 2019... despite being inconsistent and a year younger Ponga has played 89 NRL games (and 4 SOO) to Kennedy's 51 NRL games.

Plenty of clubs are willing to fork out for that higher upside player... danger is they struggle to reach that upside when they are eating up too much of your cap. Not like Ponga will ever volunteer to take a half priced deal to increase quality of his teammates though.

Ponga is like David Fifita and SJ.

You could literally say the same thing about SJ. Inconsistent flakey players with all the talent in the world, Ever wonder why the top teams want nothing to do with those types of players ?

I’d take Kennedy willing to go about his work and chip away at it putting his body on the line without fanfare all day

Him and Hynes would be a seriously amazing halves pairing.

Honestly i think Chad and Hynes would of worked pretty bloody well also.
(will admit i was one to bag him last year and was stoked he left the club) but he has seriously helped turned that cowboys team around massively.

It shows how lacking in leadership, direction and just what a general shambles that cowboys team was last season though. Chad is providing leadership and direction on field but he isn't really doing anything much different to what he did at the Sharks and he still has some good **** ups in him

He got 4 try assists the other night from some fairly ordinary kicks but to his credit the team made it work and got results from them so I am willing to concede half of those kicks were placed intentionally haha. He is throwing some nice passes at times and even trying to beat some defenders classic Chad style.

Regardless while he might be worth $800k or whatever it is to a team like the Cowboys he wouldn't be worth near that sort of coin at the Sharks anymore

I'm glad Chad is getting some wraps up there, fitting in and starting to show some value to that Cows team and it's fans. I didn't want them blaming Cronulla for sending them to him for too long either :p

If anything he has more control and leadership in that team than he had in the past at Sharks or Warriors. Old enough to share that experience but not too old that he's on 1 leg. He looks pretty fit.

If we move on from Mozza & Nicho ever moves into the 6 we can find a Chad style player for alot less money than the actual Chad

I'm sure Fitz is hoping Trindall will do that job in the future
