Not usually good form to break up with someone by them finding out you’ve already asked someone else out while still dating them…
In business you get your ducks a row first though. Can't be left with nothing.

Wonder if Newman is still considering a tilt. Good luck with that if he is
This almost had me spitting out my water. Funniest post I've read in a while. Good for Newman, I'm sure he still thinks he has a chance.

Doubt we'll get any games out of it. Won't impact Tigers. The other teams will play as many games as possible at Parra I reckon, Roosters probably back at SCG.
What’s the impact of that many back to back games on the grass? I think it will be detrimental to the field.

They can get ****ed if they ever do this.

One of the options that has been discussed is the potential introduction of a SuperBowl-style bidding war for the grand final each year, pitting major cities like Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland against each other for the right to host rugby league’s showcase event.

Last paragraph or 2

'facility'

Which means any money will go towards the Pasifika themed centre of excellence, which will be shared with the community, and not the actual stadium.

Spose you could change the design and make a large part of the CoE infrastructure being the stadium

Yeah I get that point of view, I like the tradition of it.

Also really not a fan of a non NRL state getting it. By all means do it with SOO but not the GF.

This wouldn’t be the case if the NRL invested in “expanding” into a new market (rather than adding teams into an existing market) and became truely “National”.

Surely you don't have an issue with Brisbane getting a second team?
No, I don’t have an issue with a new Brisbane team but I would have thought that to truely “expand the market” then you would look outside of the existing market.

I was actually in favour of 2 new teams.
One new Brisbane team was fine, but also one “NEW market” team. (Adelaide or Perth). This at least works towards a truely ”National” RL competition.

2 new teams also means another game each week.
I don’t really understand how “1 new team, let’s have a bye each week” improves the NRL’s negotiation position when it comes to a new TV/media deal.

My biggest fear now thou, is the next ”expansion” team will still be based on the East Coast (ie NSW Central Coast, or Brisbane’s Sunshine Coast) and we still don’t have a “National“ representation or even working towards one.

Yeh look, I dont think an NRL Grand Final works in Perth. But Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and NZ works.

A grand final at the MCG would be insane

Only issue here is venue - rectangular stadium only sits 20k, AFL stadium sits 60k

Almost no point having it here if you're only having 20k at the game which means it needs to be played on an oval, they can probably extend some seating in to fill space and get some people a bit closer but not ideal viewing.

I was a force member for first few years they existed and just got sick of watching from so far away (well, mediocre results didn't help either)

I reckon a GF deserves more than 55k people, need more capacity in Brisbane.

Also not really fan of a GF being played on an oval-shaped ground.
