I love the surf, used to spend a fair bit of time there. Don't get to it much anymore. Have a home pool that I jump into when it's summer (I hate the heat).

Love bodysurfing. Not a big fan of long ocean swims though... I always imagine the irony of getting eaten by a shark :)
Don't like ocean swimming either. Strictly pool swimmer here.

Was a competitive swimmer when I was a kid - only liked freestyle and breath stroke

Still remember my tough nut coach teaching me how to do butterfly by locking my legs together with a little black inflatable tube and pushing me in the pool and pointing to the other end. There were new kids in the team and apparently I was the demo boy (if drowning is what you want to put on show)

still can't do butterfly for ****
never mastered the tumble turns when starting a new lap either

they used to put our times and results in the paper
don't miss the training and especially not the nerve racking gun/buzzer at the start line

still like an ocean swim/bodysurf or dip in a pool though

I can see why you’d like to breathe, although I guess not doing so inspires you to swim faster

Pool I grew up swimming in motivated you to get your turns right, was so shallow at one end you’d shave some skin off on the bottom with bad form

Pool I had lessons at was indoor and had a huge marlin painted on the bottom of it. 6pm winter when it was dark outside it was gloomy as **** in there - dark blue water with a dark blue marlin about 10m long lurking beneath. Scared the crap outta me as a little fella. Loved the water but & eventually got over the marlin.

After back surgery I couldn't twist my head far enough to properly take a breath from my stomach, or bring myself back vertical. That was it for me, not been in a pool in probably near 25yrs.

Was the back surgery as a result from injury mate?

Ahh ok. At least you're making the most of life mate, all you can do, right.
At 9/10 ya just roll with it. Took off the togs, picked up a hockey stick & had a blast doing that for 13yrs or so all round Aus.

But absolutely. Play your cards best you can. Bitta luck & bluffing a 2-7 off suit can beat AA.

Sorry to hear that. If you still want to swim, you can do so with a snorkel. It does not require you to turn your head and promotes good body position in the water. Here are couple snorkels from Arena and Speedo:

Yup, that’s good for snorkeling. The ones I am talking about are used in swimming ( you will need swimming goggles too).
Can you not use the style I linked for swimming?

I know you can use the one you linked for both as I have snorkled and I swam while I was doing it.

Once you're breathing through a tube I think you are probably both swimming and snorkling, although in a pool the view not be very interesting.
