Funny, i don't even see Either Hynes/Moylan as True halves. Probably get flamed, lets revisit in 12 mths. If manufactured and yet they still go good consistently together, happy to be wrong. Maybe even Will Kennedy gets a shot at some future stage, if its an open position..
I think Moylan is a true half. Has had a pretty flaky career and questionable mental state for a fair chunk of time, but he is as silky as they come when he's switched on and fit

Neither is what you think of as a 7. Both fit the mould of a 6 moreso - but good coach can build the team around his players rather than making the players fit a cookie-cutter idea of how a 6 or 7 should play. In 2019 Jahrome Hughes was a decent fullback who could play 6 in a pinch, and look at him now.

I have no issue seeing both as halves, they are just both more on the 'running half' end of the sliding scale than the Chad/Robson 'controlling halfback' side of the scale. Hynes probably a bit more centred on the scale as he can run well but also adds the kicking game.

The combo has some weaknesses, especially given one can't kick, but puts our best players on the park and they can compliment each other well in a backline with interchangeable roles. Moylan may not be going to go the length but he is enough of a run threat still as he can break the line. Moylan has a deft touch but equally has good straighten to hold up defenders when feeding the ball out.

Hynes perhaps a bit in the Jonathan Thurston mould I think where he is a reasonably diverse threat (pass run kick) and will pretty much play the same in either jersey. JT was Halfback of the Year (2005, 2007, 2009, 2015) and 5/8 of the Year (2012, 2013, 2014). He was International Player of the Year in each of these positions once, and won Dally M and RLPA Player of the Year multiple times including at least once in each position.
I have no issue with Hynes wearing the 7 and I don't think he would play substantially different just because he was 5/8 rather than halfback either.
As a show of confidence in him I'm happy to leave him in the 7 if (when) we do start Trindall in games.
He was brought in as our marquee half, he can handle the pressure of being the 'main' half.

Obviously if Hynes can get half those accolades we'd be stoked but I'm not trying to say he is or will be JT, just that I think he is equally competent in either jersey and (I think) wouldn't really change the way he plays too much. Who he is partnered with, and their strengths and weaknesses, will affect how he plays more than a defined role from his shirt.

Gee Wiz ,
I normally like your posts on other subjects , but I think you will regret bagging Mozza relentlessly early season .
Hope you can own it when BOTH halves really hit their straps together .
AND I think most think they will mate
