Said in interview he would think he’d play as a running half or fullback, maybe even utility as he can also play some hooker

Can see him taking the utility spot when Trindall has to come in to cover an injured Moylan.

Perhaps fighting Metcalf for that jersey.
Ability to fill hooker and a 2023 contract could get him the edge.

As for Moylan I just hope whatever he does he does it in good sized chunks.
Playing 2/3 of season only? Okay fine, either just play that and then burn out or even play a third miss a third play a third but don’t be in and out every 3-4 weeks complicating things

The discussion about Moylan is deadset Groundhog Day……….every year he is like as good as new and ready for a big season in the half’s………looks out Moylan needs the 6 jersey move everyone out of position to make way……fast forward to round 3 when he is broken and another off season has been lost!

Metcalfe's good enough, but hopefully Lachie's just as good to get the nod. He was good enough to win the hottest 100, so it's a promising start

I to was surprised a little with preferred positions, I’d guessed or assumed he’d be centre/wing from early talk.

My ‘optimistic’ post was for him to play 2/3 of season

Anyway, last season he made it to round 6…

IS A DEBUT CALLING?

The Sharks caught a good one in Locky Miller.

The former Rugby 7s star has been absolutely carving up in NSW Cup and foxsports.com.auunderstands he is very close to getting an NRL debut off the bench.

In Round 1 he topped the metre-count for the Jets and scored, in Round 2 he topped the metre-count again for his team and set up a try. In Round 3 he set up three tries.

Last weekend he ran for 136 metres, had a linebreak, a linebreak assist, a try assist and nine tackle busts. He also made a stunning try-saving tackle on Edrick Lee.

“He’s an absolute freak,” Newtown captain Kurt Dillon told Fox League after their 18-16 win.

“We didn’t know what to expect because obviously he’s come from Rugby 7s — we didn’t know what he’d bring to the team — but as you can see today and every week he just lights the field on fire and makes it easier for us.”

STANDOUTS

Newtown winger Kayal Iro proved hard to handle for the Knights, running for 199 metres with 104 of those post-contact, while Tom Hazelton is a hardworking prop that Sharks fans should keep an eye on.

SPOTTED...

Cronulla’s big bopper Franklin Pele was sin-binned for a high shot in Newtown’s win over Newcastle and then penalised for another high shot just 36 seconds after returning to the field. He made up for it though when he crashed over for what ended up being the matchwinner.

Lachie is quite rightly getting all the kudos for his attacking game but from the games I have seen, his defence is still questionable. Has made a few handling errors in those games as well and also a horrible error gifting a team a try with a bat back trying to save a 40/20.

But as to what was alluded in other threads, why would Fitz see the need to make changes at the moment with three wins on the trot. Only another injury to one of our backline is going to see him come in.

Yeah not quite sure why we need to bring in a guy who's only played a handful of reggies games when we have other options.

Can't see it.

Yeah I agree Chad. Watching the last game, I thought he looked pretty good. Reminded me a bit of Matt Dufty in some ways.

Good to have him as backup and he'll keep getting better.
