This is The Rumour Mill though isn’t it ?
It is but hardly any play out despite "all but inked" , the quality of sources "mail" seems worse than it used to but it might just be my perception and that there is more information flow than ever over mass media, socials, forums ect so of course the dodgy info is going to increase alongside the good
Feels like back in the day word would have got out about one of our recent signings in advance. It's a good thing those things didn't leak but it only makes me more skeptical of anything not coming officially from our club
worked up seems a bit extreme for the conversation just had about Cotric, there was a rumour and then a bit of a discussion about it. Nobody was buying a Cotric Sharks jersey or cancelling their membership. This thread would be on about page 5 if we only posted rumours/player movements in here and nobody spoke about them.
Doesn't help that as Gards mentioned journos can now be their own source to just make up random potential player moves, although that was not the source of this one as far as I am aware.
I've commented about how I would see Cotric fit in our side but have 0% expectation of it happening.
more a general comment mate , the amount of things we get linked to is ridiculous. it's fun to discuss and share our opinions and by all means comment on how a player would fit in our side but not worth worrying about too much even if again its fun to let the imagintion run wild and get fired up. I'm sure the club aren't settling on Tracey as our starting centre for instance nor would they entertain Cotric if they didn't think it was the best play they had
Feel like there is an air of confidence and belief in the club about what they are doing and the approach to business and signings. In the past we would have to take what ever table scraps fell to the ground and pay overs for them and being linked or rumoured to bad deals in the player market was a genuine cause for concern as there was a chance it was genuine
I used to hang onto the breath of every word of potential signing cause the club was so desperate for success. Now we just roll big signings outta nowhere like its nothing while the hit rate of 'the inside word' seems to have plummeted. It's still a big deal and all but the context has shifted for me , maybe that's why I feel this way.
Getting a player like Carney in 2012 seemed unbelievable now we expect those sort of signings every couple of seasons. I must admit I still want another big announcement signing wise from the club for 2022. maybe some pessimism then from me then in being linked to more average players even if they still have a part to play in our squad make up.
I'll still play fantasy 17 though
I think one of our biggest challenges in the current market is pleb clubs with big checkbooks but our reputation as a competitive club with a good culture, new young coach ect continues to serve us well. if someone decides to got to the dogs or warriors fmd good luck to them they will need it, at least their bank account will feel good.
