With the 5-year anniversary coming up (and before we get out of lockdown), I have been thinking about a way to create an archive of stories/photos from the Premiership year, sort of an "oral history" but in written form.

You may see I've added a new forum named "Premiers 2016" - https://sharksforever.com/index.php?forums/premiers-2016.163/

The idea being that anyone who wants to can create their own thread, write their own story and upload any photos you want.

If there is enough response, I would make a mini-site - https://premiers2016.com - to show those stories and photos in a more visual way, and then share that around more widely.

I've considered different ways to do it, but as it may be a stupid idea (!), I will just re-use the forum technology and user registration for now, and see how things go.

The notice at the top of the forum has all the info. Just remember to post with your own privacy in mind.

Feel free to try out, you can always edit your post later (I may need to verify Edit Post settings!).
Sounds like a cracking idea SF. Not sure historians will site my experience in textbooks or anything but happy to be a part of it

Thanks it may just be a silly/overly ambitious idea, so I'm not doing too much up front work on it yet except create the forum. But see if we all get inspired as the grand final approaches!

Yeah I'd probably have to look at the file sizes. It's a possibility. Otherwise I guess just upload to YouTube/Vimeo and include a link. I'll give it some thought. Thanks

Some may consider it silly, however for us Sharks tragics its a moment in time we'll never forget, no matter if we were there at the game or not. We understand what these storys, photos and videos mean to the poster and can appreciate them in spite of the no doubt drunken blur of the memory/post.

I think its a great idea SF.(y)

Thanks Jenni.... after a bit more thought, I think I'll take a bit of a different approach. I don't know if many of us are up to writing a big long story from 5 years ago, but some may like to upload their photos and videos. I've added the Media Gallery extension, and uploaded some photos and videos from 2016 here:

Any additions are welcome... the aim for it stay as 2016 from a Sharks fan's perspective.

Note: if anyone wants to add videos, I suggest registering a Vimeo basic (free) account at https://vimeo.com/, and then using the "Embed media" option to attach the videos.

Little vid I watched, we really made Cam Smith work hard in Defence. 73 tackles he made.

Gal made a comment this week that Flanno was freaking out before the game about Ennis giving away an early penalty

Biased but has there been a more one sided crowed?

Remember just the sea of Black White and Blue. Looked so amazing.

Most one sided I can remember. I recall a bay of maybe 2000 purple fans to me left but black, white & blue everywhere else.

Nope, was absolutely amazing. Shame they don't sign up as members though.
Yeah needed to convert those numbers to members. You’d have to say that most in Cronulla colours were actual fans. Sure there would be some bandwagon supporters. But most were genuine in my eyes. A lot of emotion on people’s faces at the end and can’t fake that. Expect ET!

Yeah mate I remember that little section on one end. They would of felt like small as ants.

I’ve been to Origin at Suncorp, but never been or seen a one sided affair like that. Everyone talks about the roar when Qld run out but we beat that.
The first crowd roar was Mick Ennis on the big screen with retirees.

When they run out and of corse at the end. The noise of that place was crazy.

Gus was talking about Panthers first and how wild it was, We are so lucky to see our first.
