Was telling in the presser yesterday Hannay seemed to indicate something along the lines of “there’s a bit of something there” like maybe they were even surprised how well he has started and may figure in a fight for the 6 next year.

All of a sudden we have so much depth in the spine next year!

Kennedy, hynes, trindall, Metcalf, brailey, McInnes, moylan are all spine players

I love it. My take is the new game is suited to a bunch of high energy, versatile players. I’m wondering if you could even get away with a couple less forwards in exchange for players like smith, Watson, Brimson, drinkwater… add any of those guys in exchange for Nikora with the guys we have next year and we’d be looking good imo

Nikora for any of them does seem good, make it happen

I get I named forwards in exchange for a forward, but I don’t see the ones I named as forward by definition, I see Nikora as a forward, but he is **** and limited.

Metcalf played well but Moylan has been very good for us in the games he's played.

If fit Moylan starts imo, unless they want to do something tricky and put Talakai in the centres for a bit, then bring on Moylan and move Metcalf to centres but can't see them doing that and I don't like Talakai in centres. Off the bench as middle is where he belongs.

Nice to have options.

Keep Talakai the **** away from the centres and Tracey the **** away from our spine - they should be default rules barring horrific injury toll because they are like intentional handicaps. Follow these rules and we are already ahead and can work out the rest from there.

I like Rudolf away from the 13 but if we are starting Jack Williams @ 13 we could interchange him with Mozza for a spell even if I don't rate Mozza as a benchy it gives our latest exciting young talent in Metcalf 80 mins of opportunity instead of 20

Drop Billy M to reserves list and bring Hunt back onto the bench when available for selection. Give Wilton Nikoras spot so we can squeze Tolman back in as well

Also don’t mind the idea of Trindal on the bench. Metcalf and Moylan start and Trindal comes on as a ball playing lock. Metcalf and Moylan can stay on the edges and Trindal can organise the middle

couldn't bench Trindal now, not after the game he just had and he is building momentum and confidence and could well be our 7 next season. would be a big change to make few weeks out from potential finals as well. Metcalf , moylan neither are a proper 7 either , someone would have to run the show before Trindal came on

this is the nicest and most measured response you will get to the suggestion so brace yourself for the incoming wrath of SF

Does anyone put any weight in the quality of the opposition when talking about performances? What would you rate the tigers against us?

SPORTINGNEWS - Probably close to the money but I'd prefer Hunt to Tolman

The Tigers were horrendous but we still had to show up and put in a decent performance to lay 50 points on them which we did.

Us fans have no delusions about troubling the top teams this season cause the chances of us having a 100% fit squad that gets it's **** together for 80 mins and plays to its potential is slim to none and even if we did I doubt if it would still be enough to match the storm or panthers at full strength.

Any team 3rd or lower we could hypothetically defeat on our day , have even come close earlier in the season

We seem to have gone off slightly in this thread talking about Metcalf. Back to talking about the make up of the whole team, even a post with a prediction of our team against the Broncos. Would be good to get back to talking about Luke.

For me, he really impressed on Saturday and does deserve to keep his spot. I reckon he will with Moylan still on the bench for less minutes while getting his match fitness back.

I wouldnt want to mess with what worked very well this week... Metcalf and Trindall should only get better with game time rather then being benched or playing out of their roles

a bit hard to because you can only play what is put in front of you.
Tigers are a weak side but they had a three game streak and their season on the line.
Yes that streak was three other sides that currently join them in bottom 5 but those sides have troubled us in the (recent) past and not like bookies had us as big favourites.

Gave us a chance to see what Metcalf can offer so the hope is he can build on that and start to do those things against stronger sides in the future.

If you'll allow it, your honour, I shall demonstrate how my questions are indeed relevant concerning the aforementioned Metcalfe... 🙂

There's some very excited statements coming out of the forum this week around the great performances against a third rate (to be generous) Tigers side. It was great to see Metcalfe (and Trindall) firing, but we've been here before and had some pretty big disappointment when the same guys fold like cheap deck chairs under a bit of pressure.

It's great fun to see our youngsters burn sides, but I'm definitely not throwing out a a Moylan just yet. I really want a team that gets deep into the finals and there's a long way to go before we know if they've got what it takes. That's all 😏

I must say I watch the game again yesterday and their defence up the middle was atrocious. The linebreaks we made would not have happened against half good sides.

Was good to see though!

Happy with this team. Sure you could massage a few positions between now and kick off bit overall looks good.

I'll allow it counsel glad you kept it brief (down to five lines or close enough). Did you need to call any more witnesses or does the defence rest?
