Though he was going ok yesterday until the head clash. Fair amount of claret on his face. Any news on how he is?

Did I hear them say in commentary he doesn't wear a mouthguard?

Plenty don't. I would lol but I've heard some find it obstructs their breathing (especially if your snoz is already too busted to breathe through).

My breathing through my nose is pretty poor and I still always wore one. Hell Fergo wears one and he just about has his nose on inside out.
Reckon saying they can't breathe is just a cop out, probably nobody pushed them to wear one when they were a kid or enforced it when they felt it was uncomfortable the first time putting one in so now they don't want to.

Good point on Fergo. Can't be much air getting through that mangled snorkel.

But for the most part its them who'll suffer so up to them if they wanna risk their teeth I guess.

Sort of but I reckon Dragons would have rather had Ramsey for rest of season because his teeth stayed in his head due to mouth guard.

Quick bit of google image search looks like Nikora doesn't wear one, already now without Fifita and Tolman next week, wouldn't want to be without him just because he cbf wearing a mouthguard

I think if ya make it to FG your decision to wear a mouth guard or not is the least of anyone's concern.

Definitely something that a caring parent or coach should have enforced a long time ago.
If an NRL club started making it mandatory though I'd be fine with that, especially as they pay the medical bills and pay for you to be on the field!

They're big boys, let them worry about it. Not everything needs a mandate.

Moylan doesn't wear one but then again you don't need one as a ball boy!

I’m shocked the NRL hasn’t made mouthguards mandatory for juniors. “Highly recommended” but not mandatory yet. Surely it can’t be far off.

Wow, I just assumed they were mandatory at all levels for decades, seeing as thats, you know, the logical thing to do. Learn something new everyday.

I'm not aware but I would have thought headgear would also be mandatory for juniors and eventually within 20yrs in NRL by which time are accustomed to wearing headgear.

Understandably, headgear does not prevent the brain from rocking and rolling during a collision however it absorbs the impact, eg a 20km impact may now be a 10km impact thereby minimising injury. Additionally, headgear minimises superficial cuts and bruises.

Headgear does nothing for concussion. Look at the NFL, helmuts don't do much
