This bloke on one leg would be better than some of our forwards.

Loved the stories Riccio told about him on Sharkcast, will be a huge asset for us.

MCINNES WAS SET FOR EARLY SHARKS SWAP
You've got to feel for poor Dragons utility forward Cameron McInnes, who suffered a season-ending knee injury just days after signing with Cronulla for 2022.
Ironically, I'm hearing that McInnes was set to move to the Sharks very soon in a player swap, with the Dragons deciding it was not in anyone's interests that their former captain remained at the club.
And the player who the Dragons were considering asking for in return?
The Sharks' Greek international Billy Magoulias - who like McInnes can play at both lock and hooker.
The swap is obviously off the table now - but don't be surprised to see the 24-year-old Magoulias running around in the Big Red V in 2022.
The Dragons yesterday signed Andrew McCullough - a favourite of new coach Anthony Griffin - for three years, but there may still be room for him and Magoulias in their roster.

Author clearly knows FA about Billy Magoulias. He’s not a hooker. He filled for a bunch of NSW Cup games because they had nobody else. He is no more an NRL hooker than Paulo, Sorensen or Capewell - who all had stints at 9 for the Sharks.

Ok second thoughts - more than Capewell.

Anyone think of any benefit to moving Billy on now? Maybe making a spot in the 30 for someone else? Though I think we have enough to slot in a couple more players

Sure - but who are they going to get? Also - it’s not like a in a hurry to free up slots. They could sign someone any time in the next 3 months without releasing anybody.

You also don’t free up any money or cap space by releasing him. Releasing a player who is close to minimum wage just means you are forced to upgrade a different player. E.g. release Billy, upgrade Vasquez to top 30.

You going through the archives, Burgo? :)

I think Billy's ship may have sailed. There might have been benefit to moving him if there was some interest, maybe as a player swap, but he's firmly entrenched himself in the middle of the middle pack... pack.

Nah - have just been watching Billy for years mate.

I’m not arguing with you. I’m just saying that the team is short on warm bodies atm so why get rid of one unless there is a replacement who is definitely better. As much as some fans like to **** on him, the fact of the matter is that there are currently no better options. He’s definitely better than Vasquez and Pele.

You can argue that Fifita should be playing ahead of him, but at the rate Sharks players have been getting injured /suspended this year that just means Billy will just play 2/3 of the games instead of every game.

In any case, a journo calling him a hooker clearly has nfi.

Unfortunate but true. Personally I'd struggle to put Fifita ahead of him, especially if that meant a Woods/Fifita middle combo late in a game. That'd be a disaster.
Billy as a hooker... journo's really don't pay much attention to the actual game, do they?

He's exactly what we need right now. Such a shame he got injured.

Cameron McInnes will join the Sharks on Monday - but only to train.

The unusual decision can be revealed after St George-Illawarra granted McInnes permission to continue his rehabilitation from an ACL knee injury with vehement rivals Cronulla - the club he‘s joining in 2022.
The agreement between both the Dragons and Sharks is a by-product of the NRL‘s decision to move 13 clubs to Queensland.

The NRL placed a cap of 41 players and staff to travel to Queensland and the Dragons included their lead physiotherapist within the travelling party.
Staying back in Sydney, McInnes is five months into his rehabilitation and recovery from a torn ACL suffered last February.

The 27-year-old is progressing well, but rather than have McInnes continue to train alone, the Sharks approached the Dragons to take over his recovery.
Cronulla kept one of their physiotherapists, Dave Garrick, back in Sydney to work with both their injured players and those who weren’t included within the move to Queensland.

It means that McInnes will train with Sharks captain Wade Graham (concussion, knee), Jackson Ferris (foot), Franklin Pele (foot) and Nene Macdonald and Josh Dugan for the first time on Monday.
The rehabilitation switch has been approved by the NRL, notably their head of biosecurity.

McInnes has been permitted to move from one NRL club bubble to another club bubble, based on the Sharks having their own rehabilitation facilities within their privately owned Shark Park stadium.

The Dragons will continue to pay McInnes his 2021 salary with the Sharks agreeing to step-in and cover any financial costs should the hugely talented hooker or lock-forward suffer a setback unrelated to his ACL recovery.

The Dragons captain signed a four-year deal with the Sharks in February - only to suffer his serious knee injury while training 10-days later.

Dont mind it. Allows our physio to ensure his rehab from here is done right. You dont want a situation like Jack Bird where the ex club starts getting blamed for that ****

That is a bit odd… but sure, sounds good

Very weird, but I like it.

What’s the dragons gain from it? One less person the staff have to look after? It mentioned it’s because we have our own rehab centres in shark park. Where do the dragons do theirs?

It’s a shame all the guys are up in QLD. Would have been nice to get Cam around guys who will actually be playing next year

As long as we keep our dentist away from him. Don't want to mess with the aerodynamics. If it aint broke don't fix it.

Cam was giving it to Wade Graham today at training - safe to say he’s going to be massive for us

Source or more info on this?
Interested in both what you've actually said and what McInnes is doing trainingwise
