Doesn't get any support when he gets the ball on the edge, and he's really hard to handle. He usually pokes through the defence and no-ones there with him

Our support play in general isn't up to scratch imo. Needs to improve a lot.

One of the few areas WK has left to improve!

If he needs to conserve some energy we should have Connor sniffing around on tackles 2-3. Katoa actually did it to great effect yesterday.

Yep I love him but he's lacking in this area quite a bit. Fitz will sort it out.

I feel different about Ramien - he looked very strong, running the ball with heaps of energy. he's looking more his old self this season and has an offload in him

losing the ball after the break away was more unlucky than incompetence. maybe a pass was on but would have to watch again, some are saying kennedy was available but I thought a defender was closing in on Will to cut him off

It was frustrating but tend to agree, was a good effort by Gamble.

Connor will actually be able to do this a bit if he is playing centre too (bit easier to back up in middle and get back to position if you aren't winger), he doesn't mind coming in and ball playing out to his second rower and winger either which could be useful

I still thought there was enough high contact there it could have been a penalty... Katoa got 10 mins for a very similar tackle not long ago (admittedly Katoa one must have been more forceful).
Meanwhile Ronnie tackled low when chasing the break and the bloke rolled through and still scored

I swear we must have one of the lowest scoring percentages on line breaks like that. We never seem to ice them.

Do you mean their length of the field try? Looked as though Ronnie went high to me? I thought if he went low, he could have got to him a few metres earlier and possible stopped him.

Will have to watch it again.

We rarely score long range tries either, from in our own half.

Really need a strike back or two.

I feel like we have opportunities though. Kennedy almost got the chip, Ramien passes to Will he scores. I'd love a Staggs or someone in the other centre spot but I think our other 3 are pretty good.

He went high, just not the technique I was referring to, I didn't explain what I meant very well.
He kind of grabbed the back of Nius shoulders, the tendency in the NRL (think great X Coates try saver a couple weeks back) is to get another step closer and reach overshoulder and get hands on ball/better secure player. Because he didn't have Niu's arms/ball secured at all he just reached out and put ball down.

In regards to a true low tackle, he could have dived for the legs earlier although NRL players have such powerful legs they often stride through that kind of reaching contact. If he had waited until he was closer and it was a sure thing Niu was too close to line to tackle legs by then I think.

Always going to be tough to stop him that close to the line after a 80m sprint

Also the Gamble tackle was a shoulder charge now that I watch it again, given that with same technique Talakai was charged with shoulder charge

Yeah, just unlucky. Gamble did a great job on the tackle and getting inside Jesse's head. He looked pretty flat afterwards.

Pokes his nose through just about every time. Like Bort said, hopefully with Tracey inside and Ronnie (or Katoa?) outside him he'll be spoilt for options. Better yet, WillyK sticking closer than a small pair of Reg Grundy's on a hot day

agree with this

dan tupou is there for the taking, but for some reason we havent taken him

we had a sneaky play at tom wright before he re-signed with rugby, would have been a huge get

Tupou might be off to the Broncos - rumour going around.

Coates and Tupou would get your sets started pretty well and be great kick targets both sides for ARey.
I'd think they'd need to shake off their 500k reserve grade winger in Oates to be paying for Tupou though

Hopefully over the off season we can get Jesse to have his blinkers surgically removed.

I also hope Fitz is devising a game plan where we get early good ball to him where he has room to move & is on one with his opposing centre.
