Watched last weekend's game against the Tigers we touched them up the second half. We have a very good player in Ryan Rivett boy can play...

He appeared a lot in pre season photos and also has been on the scoresheet quite a bit so far (and I think in reviews has set up a few tries too). Definitely showing some early potential.

How old is he? Can we chuck him into first grade?

18 I think. Unclear if he is on Dev contract currently or is on one next year, has been some conflicting info on this but I think Burg was saying Ryan has said he is only on Dev contract next year.

Here's some highschool highlights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL1zm48tp6g
The try saver around 2 minutes in probably says more to me than most of the other stuff. Very nice 40/20 later on also

Definitely just a prospect at this stage though

What Rivett said in an interview in October was:

“The second year actually I’m full time with them. Next year, the second year of the contract. So the first year I do pre-season and then go back and probably play Flegg and hopefully get a couple of games of Cup.”

When asked about potentially playing NSW Cup he said:

“They’ll probably put me in Flegg for most of the season.”

This was followed up by Bomber listing him as a development player in a pre-season interview. From that, we are tentatively saying that when Ryan said “full time” for 2022 it means development list.

The SG Ball season has 7 more weeks to run and the Flegg season starts in 2. You have to assume he goes up at some stage. The o my questions will be whether they have him finish out the SG Ball season, and where they send him (Flegg, Jets or even Wolves).

Yeah I’d be shocked if he doesn’t play JF when SG is done. Potentially same with Samrani, Finau and even Dykes

Yep. All four. Apparently Kobie Wilson was also training with the Flegg team in pre-season and I think he may have played the Flegg trial on the weekend.

TV Game for the Sharks this week. Saturday arvo v Roosters. It shows as 2:30pm kickoff for me but that could be Qld time. Will post a link when it is available.

They have named an unchanged team again.

Jinks, Boothroyd, Fiaii and Levi got the nod off the bench last week.

Burg, are you sure we are playing the Roosters this week?
The fellow I interviewed from the Roosters says he is playing the Rabbits this week, they have already played the Sharks and got touched up by us.

Just look at the draw

https://www.nswrl.com.au/draw/?competition=144

What comp does he play in ?

Weird. He definitely plays in SG Ball. I just double checked the email I was sent by the Roosters Career Coach:

"Hi Chad,

I have one of our SG Ball players that is keen to start an apprenticeship in electrical or engineering areas.

I saw your advertisement for a Fitter Machinist Apprentice at ______, this young man lives at _______ and interested in exploring further.

Attached a copy of his resume, let me know if there may be suitable time for you to meet with him.

I hope you tell any decent young players you're not getting an apprenticeship unless you sign with Cronulla.

Haha no mate. I just tell them to take it easy on them when they play the Sharks. That usually gets a laugh.

The one that I love doing is to applicants that tell me they follow the NRL and when I ask them what team they support I tell them to be very careful with their answer.

If they answer Manly, Storm, Dogs, Broncos I tell them that's the wrong answer and I'll need to tear up their application.

I make a point of telling them that the correct answer was Sharks.

Roosters SG Ball team is North Sydney. They got smashed by the Sharks.

“The Roosters” in SG Ball is Central Coast Roosters, who don’t have any affiliation with the Easts Chooks anymore.

Here is the Norths lineup from the Sharks game. You don’t have to say who - but I’m guessing it’s one of these players.

1. Rory Togiatu 2. Isaac Rosario 4. Samuel Woollett 5. Peter Poulos 6. Finn Douch 7. Michael Farah 8. Lafi Tuinauvai 9. Elijah Sarkis 10. Tayson Fakaosi 11. Kobe Bone 12. Max Sedgman 13. Samuel Iese 14. Kobe Poching 15. Taine Boland 16. Blake Coombes 17. Nat Latu 18. Damien Nati 19. Matthew Rose

Oookk, are you sure though Burgess. I think i read an article they merged the two squads. Would figure somewhat though what you now say, as i spoke to the Team mgr last week, he was Central Coast. The team after initial yips when hit hard at first last week, did strike me when they defaulted to a Rythm, the Bulk of a team that had played together for a few yrs. So maybe yr right.

No - you’re right. I was thinking a different comp. Sorry.

I know the Roosters played the Sharks in a HM’s trial, so maybe they played an SG Ball trial also.

So I guess I was right about them having the Bears but wrong about them not having anything to do with CC junior reps???

All 3 games of Sharks v Roosters are being televised... Tarsha Gale 12:30pm, HM’s 2pm, SG Ball 3:30pm

Good news, keen to see how this Siteni Taukomo goes at fullback, he's the one they signed for the next 4 years or so and have wraps on him. Also the third Brailey is at hooker - Taj

Yep. A few hours watching future Sharks will be a good warm up for next week.

For anyone interested, QRL.com are streaming one Mal Meninga Cup match each week. That comp starts this weekend.

Got done by the Chooks 26-14

A lot of tries from kicks. Roosters got the rub of the green with a couple of tries that shouldn’t have counted and a bizarre sin-binning of Dykes, but the game was there for the taking at 16-14 and ball security let them down.

Very windy game so tough for outside backs. Passes longer than a couple of metres were getting blown around.

Some observations across the 17...

- Dykes was safe, and good on exit sets - but invisible on good ball sets
- Stonestreet’s work on exit sets was great. I like him. Very good ptb’s
- Centres and the other winger were not factors
- I don’t mind Fuz. Not fancy, but his passing is spot on and he plays eyes up
- RR as advertised. Took the line on. Good kicking game. Defended well when he needed to but was rarely tested.
- Finau was ok but not a stand out. Solid.
- Wilson’s service is top notch and so is his defence, but he’s prone to a bonehead play occasionally
- Sikei ... I’m not a fan. Played big minutes though.
- Hardy... solid most of the game but a couple of lazy misses
- Boothroyd... decent. Not a stand out - but can’t fault him. HB will love him.
- Hosking - fantastic defender. Plays well above his weight. Was probably best on ground until he had to go off with a hia. Runs good lines but is small. Would like to see if he has a passing game.

Bench was ok. Burke had a poor miss on the edge. Seemed more comfortable after he moved to the middle.
