I'm waiting for deano to give us a run down on how good he is before I give my opinion :p
**** **** :p

Here's my run down though, never heard of him and don't know anybody that has seen much (or possible any) of his play.

Shoot away.

Hopefully the kid can become a superstar.
I hope we signed him for unders
That's a given isn't it? Every signing should be an unders signing.

This guys name has been popping up on the extended bench for NYC a bit lately. Anyone know if he's been getting any game time ?

Got his first action off the bench against the Roosters (27 minutes). He just re-signed for 2018 too.

What position is he playing ? Thought he was a FB/Winger ?

Didn't see the game. I just saw something from his management before the Roosters game that he had re-signed and was making his NYC debut that day. He has apparently played in the halves previously too. If I had to guess I'd say he and Jaemen Salmon (also on debut that game) shared the 5/8 duties in that game, since Jack Williams (the captain and the regular #6) missed the game injured. They have named Luke Metcalf in 6 this weekend with both the other two on the bench. I think their position on the ladder affords John Morris the opportunity to give a few new guys a run.

Off topic but I think Luke Metcalf is a young guy I hear who signed with Manly, maybe it's not him, can't say for sure but whoever was the young half in our lower grades who did sign is a player that supposedly will come back to haunt us according to one of my mates.

Can anyone verify of confirm who it was, are they a future gun?

Haven't heard anything about Metcalf leaving. He is off contract though. Could have also been Luke Jurd. He is a half.

James Tuitahi was release to Manly mid season, but he is an outside back.

Metcalf would be the closest fit to the description of "gun half" though. He dominated SG Ball and was the NSW U18 #7 a few weeks ago. Scored a hat trick.

The inclusion of Jackson Ferris in the 21 man squad for Round 5, 2020 confirms his promotion to the NRL squad. He was previously listed as a development player for 2019 and 2020.

He was also included in the 21 man squad for Round 1, 2020. In that case the team required special permission from the NRL to include a development player in the squad.

His Sharks.com.au profile lists him as being born in 1997, which is incorrect. He is born in 1998 (he played U18's in 2016 and U20's in 2018).

Ferris was signed from NZ in 2015 as a 17 year old. He joined the SG Ball (u18) squad for 2016, playing fullback for almost every game that season. He was part of the NYC/U20 squad in 2017 but missed most of the year with injury.

In 2018, Ferris started the year in U20 outside the starting 13, returning on the wing in round 6, and playing on the left wing outside Xerri up until round 17. When Ronaldo Mulitalo got a season ending injury (shoulder) the team tried various options at right centre (Lumelume, Tevaga and others) before shifting Ferris there. He played out the last the season and finals at right centre, and played left centre for the junior Kiwis (Hiroti was on the wing outside him).

In late 2018 he signed a 2 year contract extension for 2019 and 2020, which added him to the Sharks development list.

In 2019 Ferris played 13 games for the Jets, splitting time between wing, centre and being out injured. He missed the Grand Final (injured) but returned to play in the State Championship the following week, coming off the bench at half time and playing left wing. He scored a try midway through the second half to get the Jets closer, and then the next bit I think we all know about.

Congratulations to Jackson for his promotion to the top squad, and good luck on getting a debut in the near future.

I know it doesn’t mean anything in terms of football ability, but I’ve seen him at some Skillz4Me (autism) events, and he is so genuinely good to the families, with no media/cameras or officials around. I hope he gets his chance.
