Glad my holiday dodges any sharks games (last Friday AM to next Sat PM) but bit annoying my paid Kayo subscription won’t work overseas

Yeah what a load of ****. I have to even set my VPN to an Aus address to watch it.

What the actual ****? This would ge beyond ridiculous.

The National Broadband Network has raised a potential price hike for internet companies to provide streaming services such as Netflix and Stan as it looks at ways to pump up revenue in the face of rampant demand for video.

The NBN Co released a consultation paper two weeks ago that asked service providers such as Telstra and Optus whether they would support an extra charge for streaming video above the rate charged for other data.

If I'm paying for data I'll ****ing use it how I want. I've never heard of anything so stupid, blatant profiteering.

There's an ongoing fight over here in the US over this exact same thing.

The introduction of the NRL bunker was designed to eradicate referee howlers. We’re still getting them from the bunker.

And adding to that, if you slow something down enough and review like a million times, you WILL eventually find something to overrule a positive decision and deny a points scoring play.

Thats why I reckon our try after the strip was legit and fare. The microsecond touch afterwards shouldnt constitue a knock on, but rather it was part of the strip itself. In real time it was almost imperceptible.

Tough spot though because if we eliminated video review refs on-field call would be the only option.
I wonder how often the refs call (try or no try) is upheld by the bunker? Would ref without the bunker be getting a lot more wrong?
Even with no video replays, no bunker, the media & fans would dissect everything and play back the footage and know whether calls were being made right or wrong.

Bunker didn't look at the right thing on a video, Chad kicked a poor option, Shaun kicked no conversions, Moylan forgot to wash the soap off his hands... everyone makes mistakes and the bunker/video review will never be perfect as there will always be an element of human error.
Like our players if you make a shocker people will complain. If you keep making shockers you can expect to get dropped.

My issue with the bunker is it takes too long sometimes, I'd like to see a limit to how many times something can be watched. Okay, we've seen the grounding 6 times now in slowmo and aren't sure, go with refs call, not 'hey lets watch it 14 more times'

Were we any worse off 10 or 15 years ago than we are now? Is sport, as a whole, better for the implementation of the video review?

When the technology was not as much of an option, it didn't matter that it wasn't being used. It is now and we have to live with that.

Regarding Kayo on consoles:

I found a way around the lack of an app. You can watch it on the Internet browser on your console. I’ll try this and let you know how it goes.

I think I mentioned it, if it didn’t, I meant to. What browser are you using? I read that it was specific to one browser

Haven't tried it on console browser yet, my old PS4 has **** itself. Trying to fix it.

Yep, it's awesome alright.

Even better you can switch off when you want which I'll do in September.

A-League pre season and FFA Cup will be in full swing then, so I'll be right.

Anyone had to replace the battery in their NBN box? It's not hard or expensive, but the house is less than 5yrs old, NBN box even less, and just seems a bit **** to have to replace it especially when it only kicks in during a blackout

Didn’t even know they had batteries. Is that the socket looking thing outside or the box inside?

I have to change to NBN before mid-October from cable.

Not happy about it, will cost me more to get the same speed.
