It’s also all speculation that we would have to release anyone. If we were under the cap like reported plus surely the club knew a cap reduction was on the cards, any half brained administration would have accounted for this reduction for 2019.

Remember though if we do have to release a player it isn’t as simple as giving someone a tap on the shoulder and saying “see ya”. We need to find a club that’s willing to take them under their cap, odds are any club that wants one of our guys will know we’re desperate and will probably look to us to pay some of their wage under our cap, like we’ve done to other clubs. This ain’t going to be simple unless a club is stupid enough to take the full freight for one of our guys.

In-case self reporting didn't look unappealing enough already when it uncovers additional breaches and consequential punishments, your club also gets it's name dragged through the mud for months and months effecting sponsorship, players, members ect.

NRL needed to handle our case swiftly and decisively but it's another drawn out, convoluted and confusing process.
What club in their right mind would want to do the right thing now. Bravo NRL Bravo

Almost the entirety of the problem is with leaks to the media.

The Tigers thing just came out of nowhere but if we do the smallest little thing we have a constant inside source to the media and they go and speculate off the back of it. That's what is hurting our brand.

The NRL should have taken longer for sure and the Flanagan situation and cap situation should have been announced at the same time.

The media have probably made more money off our brand than we will in a year. That needs to stop.

Simple solution, waterboard Buzz until he spills who is responsible for the constant leaks.

Sell tickets to the event as a money spinner.

Don't claret-board him though. He'd probably enjoy it (until he realised he was sobering up).

Question regarding the cap. If we don’t / are not using the full cap, we therefore are not using the full cap money given from the nrl. To my knowledge clubs can only use this money for the cap whiskt grant money is different.
So what do, and have we been doing with that left over money as we seem to always talk about not using the full cap lately?

I think the NRL just gives you money to cover the cap, you keep the change if you dont' use it all but you're meant to use 90% of it by June or something I recall ?

Lost at sea.
From the Nrl website

“No action was taken against any Sharks official and the club have had $500,000 of their $750,000 fine for breaches dating back until the 2013 season suspended after CEO Barry Russell self-reported.

However, the Sharks will have to play the next two seasons with a roster valued at $353,000 less than their rivals – a decision which means the club needs to release a player immediately to be cap compliant before round one.”

If we need to release a player before round 1 this should have been handed down well before the day all clubs finalised their top 29 and 2 weeks from kick off. Absolute ****ing muppets running this comp.
