If we need to chop someone for salary cap punishment reasons I don't think we can afford to lose one of one two decent centres we have (ahead of Xerri who hasn't played, Capewell who we need in the backrow and Gray).

Moving out one of these players saves you very little. You move on if there is a football reason (e.g. you think CTA is better) but you don't move those guys to save money.

e.g. Let's say that right now player 31 is Fine Kula and he is earning $30k. If you give Ava the flick (let's say he's on $130k) you would save $130k - right? No. You now have a spare slot in your top 30 that you MUST fill to be compliant. Kula has to get paid at least $90k now. So you've saved $40k in cap space and $70k in real dollars - that's handy if you are looking to save every penny but it means very little when we are talking about scenarios which help us manage to keep $700-900k+ players on our roster.

As for Dugan, Xerri, Lumelume all being in the trial - our first trial is normally 26+ players. I'm not surprised. Xerri played the Manly game last year too.

I understand all that but was thinking his contract would be a little higher, save us around 100k, but for some reason I've been think he had played more NRL games for the Cowboys than one.
Your salary guess is probably more accurate than what I was originally thinking.

We know we were under cap last year and have no reason to suspect we have spent noticeably more this year so even if we lose a big chunk off it we quite possibly won't need to do much to be compliant with our lowered cap.

trial team list out, Dugan has a center spotted locked away so is being given more rest. Mail was wrong that he would play trial, but it was from the man himself guess you cannot trust any source nowadays haha

Lots of players rested- no Gallen, no Moylan, no Johnson, no fifita, no j brayley.

Interesting not to be using Moylan, Johnson and j brayley
I would have thought that you give your new spine as much game time as possible.

Besides Moylan, are there injury concerns?

Is it more inside than Dugan telling someone he's playing? That's pretty inside... regardless of when it turns out to be a lie
