Just to make things interesting I have picked up a groin injury playing basketball to make training harder. (clue 2010 type jokes)

Well did my half marathon this morning. I was expecting it to take me around 2 hours 45 minutes but got there in 2:13 so pretty pumped.

What a freak! Nah my next challenge is a drop back to a 14km in September. I'm up in the air at the moment, thinking of committing to the full marathon at next years Gold Coast (if not definitely the half again).

The extra running I did this year has made a huge difference to my sport & I want to try & push it further again next year.

Deano, I'll be coming down to your neck of the woods in November to do Stromlo Running Festival. You should come and do one of the races. It's a good event.

I just had a look at it, I've got a basketball tournament that weekend.

I'm on the lookout for events at the moment to get my motivation back.

I ran in a race at Carcoar, west of Bathurst, last weekend.

Well worthwhile if you fancy a weekend away in a nice little country town, very scenic. They have a few races ranging from 6km up to 60km.

Nice pub at the start/ finish line as well!

Mmmm pub. I went for my first run in ages last night, did a 10km & struggled big time. Between basketball & cricket I haven't had a chance to get out for runs.

After Christmas I'll probably get dropped from the A grade cricket side so will stop training & start running again (probably preseaon for AFL too).

I've signed up to a gym for the first time in my life & am hitting the gym at 5 each morning, I've never done weights so it's killing me.

Hoping to step up again in AFL this year. Last year I started getting reasonably consistent gigs in first grade & won the ressies b&f so hoping for first grade alone next year. My fitness was there but my strength & skills are still a bit lacking.

I'm looking at doing two half marathons this year. The Gold Coast 1/2 Marathon & The Great Barrier Reef 1/2 Marathon in Port Douglas, I'm not sure how I'd go with Port Douglas weather in late October for running though.

Ever done the Great Barrier Reef one HB?

No mate but I imagine it will be very humid up there in October, will definitely be a challenge!

Nice spot to spend a day or two after the race.

Still not 100% on if I will do it or not. I've been looking for an excuse to get up that way & I was looking for a run around that time so ties in pretty well.
