So i know the rule was if u werent picked u can go to a second tier team but not hinder chances of being picked again later. but since he called them and said he wont play for them is that him doing his dash with NZ for now? or could he just go and play for them next year on rep weekend?

From what I remember the World Cup was the start of the cycle/end of the cycle - so that was when guys could make a swap of nations if they like.

So I think these guys have to stay with Tonga until the next World Cup.

Is that how it works?

They changed it for the lower tier teams. If u arent selected for ur country (aus, nz, england) and u r eligible u can play for another team but still be picked for the tier 1 teams in the future.

Dont know how this works in the case of fifita who was selected then bailed.

Its good to see tonga building a team, but it will become a joke if u have players bailing after selection. Should have had to nominate earlier

Im not sure. Playing for tonga wouldnt stop him being picked for origin normally, but pulling out of the kangaroos may.
