If Cronk was just gonna retire, why not just come out and say it?

The only reason I can think of is that Meninga showed last year he wouldn't pick guys for the Aussie team that are retiring.

I reckon he'll play on and he'd be a perfect replacement for Maloney.

You answered your own question correctly .

Now that he has been safely selected for Australia , he will announce the world cup as his swan song , IMO.

Yes the WC thing, but maybe he is open to taking some offers first to see if its enough to keep him going.

Channel 7 reported Moylan has met with Flanno. Management of both clubs have also had contact but the sticking point is the 1 million dollars compensation (250k for each year Moylan is still under contract) the Panthers want.

Guess the best thing is to leave Moylan and the Panthers in the crock pot together until things boil over.

Hopefully another team doesn't come along in the meantime with a slotted spoon.

I don't think Maloney will want to go to panthers unless he gets a big upgrade on his contract which panthers can't really afford..

Moylan $900k less Maloney $500k - thus, if we do swap Moylan is costing us $3.1m over 4 years - $775k per year

In your head, rent free
the panthers want moylan to pay the mil, not the sharks

first time ever a player will have to buy himself out, but it looks like it will happen
