Everyone keeps saying play him at lock or second rower, what if he doesn't want to? Sounds like he has his heart set on 5/8.

So what happens if he signs at brisbane and the milford bird combo is **** and bennett says to bird u are going to lock? Bird is sellibg himself as a 5/8. If a team wants to pay him as 1 and put him on an edge bird will have to fall inline.

Don't be surprised is Boyd moves to the halves.

one of Boyd's best strengths is his defensive game at the back, can't see them moving him to the halves. He's not a 5/8th like Lockyer obviously was imo

Even Lockyer was a better fullback IMO. Although his career wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. He was just such a freak it was always going to work out for him.

If they snag Bird they'll have to do something. No way Bird/Milford will work.

I don't think Boyd/Milford works either tbh. They are going to have to find a real halfback from somewhere IMO, maybe knock on the dogs door for Frawley. Knowing Brisbane they will find a gun.

That then means they're trying to fit 4 players into 3 positions.

Exactly. Meaning bird will not have the power to DICTATE to watne bennet where he plays. If bennet says 13, its 13. If he says 1 its 1. If bird wants 6 and only 6 he is not a team player and that wont end well for anyone. We'll get him back on a barba deal to play 2nd row in 2019

I don't buy the idea that Bird would be in the halves for Brisbane. If they get him they may give him a couple of games but I see it being the same as his situation here.

TBH I don't see Brisbane signing him.

,,,, &

Agree on all fronts. For the moment it's centre & probably centre next year as well then the backrow when he has a little more size on him IMO.

I wold be happy for Lewis to run around for 1 more year and then move bird into the right edge position. Jesse ramien may be an option at right Center then to fill his position. Otherwise recruit for center. I would spend bigger dollars on a replacement for Gal and ensure we have a good lock forward. Josh Jackson, Tyson Frizzel, Trent Merrin or a similar class of player. I would keep Bukuya on the bench as he provides good impact in the middle of games

I wouldn't, not the way he's been playing this season. Would definitely have him starting as soon as a spot becomes available.

Just depends on who we can get. Bukuya is fine to start at lock but if we can get someone better I'm happy for him to keep coming off the bench.

Would be a waste of money imo to get someone better when he's clearly capable of doing a very, very good job. Better off spending the money elsewhere.

It depends on what we do with Lewis etc. If we lose Lewis, Gal & Heighinton we are looking weak in the backrow.

It's all well & good that Bukuya would get the job done but whoever comes off the bench for him would likely be a massive down grade on what we have.

Graham & Bukuya at this point are our only quality backrowers for next year so Bukuya might even need to be on the edge.

I say re-sign Lewis.

11 Lewis
12 Graham
13 Bukuya

That would be a good enough starting backrow but then we need to find quality for off the bench.

11 Lewis
12 Graham
13 Merrin (just an example of the type of player)

With Bukuya off the bench has our backrow as dominate already just need another decent option off the bench.
