That’s completely irrelevant to whether or not they had on field success in their first few years. You dont win games in the present with ‘history’. GWS were given an unfair leg up and the results showed themselves when they were carried into the Grand Final by their large number of high draft picks, players they wouldnt of signed if they had the same cap as everyone else and players acquired by trading those draft picks they shouldnt of had.
A new team doesnt have to be among the best in the league straight out the gate. Also if certain Redcliffe locals refuse to get behind the team because they dont have the patience to let the team find its feet then would you really want them as fans. I reckon most of the locals are going to back them no matter what so I think they’ll be fine in the rusted on fans department. They show patience they’ll be rewarded with their own homegrown stars that come through into the team in coming years.
How is having an existing club/team before that year irrelevant for a team? Came in handy for Penrith last season when they started the year with many of the 2020 Grand Finalists.
Sharks have some good new recruits but other players we have bought and developed over other years are still coming in handy.
You don't have to go full GWS leg up to give a team a small concession like a couple extra months to chat to players for their second season.
Also not sure how big their 'rusted on fans' department is given they didn't exist before. Might inherit a few people who liked the Cup Dolphins more than the Broncos.
Nobody is saying they should be in contest for Premiership in first few seasons but they do need to at least be competitive. Currently they aren't going to be.
