I don't get why people see Val as a half. The way he moves you want him having as much space and freedom as possble i would have thought.

I'd love to see it just to find out how he went. It would mean a couple of years of work though and it may not work that well eg Barba.

Re the open space, I actually think that Val is well suited to 5/8 pace wise. A lot of his advantage is explosive speed off the mark and his freaky swerve. His advantage is gone once everyone is up to their top speed.

Yes but you want him having his hands on the football more often. Granted the number 1 has it more than the centres and wingers but not as much as the number 6. I can just see Val getting the ball one or two off the ruck 20 metres out and capitalising on some tired forwards and darting through a gap or spinning a great spiral pass like he did with Feki on the weekend.

Which a fullback does by inserting themselves at the appropriate time. A class fullback will get all the opportunities they want.

And Chad at 26 is the only one of those guys who's achieved anything. And he's still developing. They can play at 20, but they ain't winning Comps and dominating till much later.

to show you how stupid and short sighted your are... kyle flanagan will be 22 in 2019, but lets have a look at all the halves that have won a premiership in the last 16 years

2016 - Chad Townsend - 25 in the game, 20 when he debuted
2015 - Jonathan Thurston - 32 in the game, 19 when he debuted
2014 - Adam Reynolds - 24 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2013 - Mitch Pearce - 24 in the game - 18 when he debuted
2012 - Cooper Cronk - 29 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2011 - Daly Cherry-Evans - 22 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2010 - Ben Hornby - 29 in the game, 20 when he debuted
2009 - Cooper Cronk* - 26 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2008 - Matt Orford - 30 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2007 - Cooper Cronk* - 24 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2006 - Shane Perry - 29 in the game, 22 when he debuted
2005 - Scott Prince - 25 in the game, 18 when he debuted
2004 - Brent Shewin - 26 in the game, 21 when he debuted
2003 - Craig Gower - 25 in the game, 18 when he debuted
2002 - Craig Wing - 23 in the game, 19 when he debuted
2001 - Andrew Johns - 27 in the game, 19 when he debuted
2000 - Kevin Walters - 33 in the game, 20 when he debuted

so none of these guys have been over 22, and only one of them has won it in their first year

and, in 2019 val holmes will be 24, but was 19 when he debuted, so why is it good for him, but not for an actual half in our system?

If the half is ready he is ready. Look at cleary. Not setting the world on fire this year but he never looks out of place. Then u have hastings (last year) just wasnt up to it.

Its such a tough one cos u could put all the development into a half, then say the year before you plan on them getting a run, another club takes them with promises.

Dce was a gf winner in his debut year and wasnt a passenger in the team. Clubs know when guys are ready. People gave flanno greifmfor not promoting chad in 2013 full time. Put simply he wasnt quite there.

The most demanding (mentally) position on the field that comes with the most expectation and scrutiny.....the odds are against you just hitting the ground running. Its all a big process

Woods to dogs
Tedesco to roosters
Moses to eels, apparently has signed for next year but wants an immediate release to go there this year.

So hypothetically.....

Moses....gone
Tedesco....gone to roosters (high possibility)

Lets chuck in flash to tigers.....u reckon bird is now a target for tigers? At some point management will realise they arent keeping more than 1 or 2.

I think tigers will be a late bolter for bird

Knights could do well to sign a guy like woods. Wanted scott and prior. Could afford woods
Most of the Knights fans seem to think Prior was too much of a plodder to want him there, next minute the premiers extend him - lol

Those muppets need forwards or this fantastical halves & backline they think they are building won't be able to do all that much...

So Tigers could just be left with the Big Poo? err I mean two...

Knights need a forward leader badly. Woods would suit but I think he'll stay.

Ah well. There are options out there and that releases plenty of funds.

Yep , Good on Birdy , I wish him well ( but not against us ) as he helped us win a grand final .
Quite exciting to see who we can entice to the club or whether some juniors can step up .
If Bird's our only major loss we've done pretty well .

There's the only example ever that you can win a GF with an absolutely ****ed half...
